Hello, lovely Umbra lurkers!
I have some good news and some bad news.
In the middle of the night on June 15th, an unknown (at the time) error plagued the site, rendering it unusable. Whether due to my psychic abilities forcing me to wake up to silent messages alerting me of the issue or just my general inability to stay asleep, I woke up and immediately began working to get the site back up.
The Good News: The issue was resolved and Umbra is, thankfully, back to working order. You should have no further issues navigating the site.
The Bad News: In order to remedy the issue, I referred to our most recent site back up. A copy of Umbra is saved every single day for emergency situations. In the two years this site has been operational, this is the first time I've ever used one of the back ups.
Unfortunately, this means that anything done on the site AFTER the back up was created (threads/posts/PMs, etc) has been lost. If you made any posts, put up any threads, made any thread edits, or sent any private messages within the last 16ish hours from the posting of this thread, that content is now gone.
I know how frustrating this must be for anyone who made a recent post on their favorite roleplay or sent a PM filled with plot planning. Losing any amount of our writing is a huge blow. While I'm happy the error was resolved within a few hours, I'm not happy about the consequences.
Please know this was a last resort and losing work of any kind is something we hope to avoid. I sincerely apologize to anyone who lost some of their posts or private messages. Please reach out to your partners or potential partners if you're concerned some communication has been lost.
Thank you all so much for understanding. I'm going back to bed now.
