  • Hi there Guest! This message is to let you know that leadership is aware there is an error in the posting of badges - that the image links themselves are broken. Rei is working to move the items to a different img host, but it may take a little while for the transition to be complete.

Hello my beautiful darlings! I'm so excited to see you amongst our pages! One of the big events that I'm going to be maintaining on a regular basis is our wonderful, fantabulous book club!

Each month (with y'alls inputs) I will be selecting a book for us to read as a group! I'll do my best to choose books that will be available for free to everyone. Sometimes it might mean we don't have the best options, but as we got forward, if everyone would share their library with me in a DM, I can look for resources supported by the library as well!

Everyone is welcome to join and be a wonderful part of our adventures together. :) The more the merrier!

Here's a run down of the typical rules we will abide by while enjoying our book together!
    1. When asking questions and talking about the book (particularly in a way that would ruin events from others), please use the spoiler tag to cover it. To protect our fellow Umbrans from spoilers, please format your posts so the spoiler tag should is titled whatever page number your comment/question will include.

      For example -
      Snape kills dumbledore

    2. All of the sites rules are in effect here - this includes image rules. If you want to post an image and it is above the 600x600 pixel limit. Put it in a spoiler please.

    3. Be kind to one another.

    4. Be constructive - it's a-okay to not like a book. We certainly won't like them all. But be willing to explain what about the book didn't work for you.

    5. Additionally - do not judge another member for their taste in stories. If you judge others, I will ask you to step away from the month. We are here to learn and enjoy together - not to tear each other down.

    6. To reply to someone who has talked about spoilers, put the title of the '@[Member] 'pg number'] to hide it, and so they are aware. Making sure we document the page number being talked about is most important.
    7. I will continue adding rules as we move along - but have fun!

Now that we've started the book reading party - I figured it would be best to keep the trend going and to continue with books in the series until we'd finished it up.

To keep the party rolling - let's see what is going to be next -

Chuck Tingle's - Not Pounded By Anything While I Practice Responsible Social Distancing

    41La9QDNo9L._SY346_.jpg

This novella follows Bill - a young woman signed up for a job she didn't expect.... (Except from wiki)

"CAs an illness know as the trotting plague sweeps the nation, Bill is taking all the necessary precautions. The most difficult one for him to implement, however, is social distancing. At first Bill is content to simply avoid large crowds, but when he finds himself trotting, a symptom of the trotting plague, he decides to self-quarantine entirely."

My hope is that we will be able to use this space to talk to one another about the book we read - and to help along with your process. I'm going to offer two separate areas in this space - one for reader questions that I will pull together from outside sources, and one from your fellow Umbrans!
As questions are asked here - I will continuously update the second list.
    1. What does it take to take the leap into doing good for others?
    2. How could Bill increase the effectiveness of his self-quarantine?
    3. What is one thing that Bill inspires us all to do?
    4. More to come.

    1. Have you read any Chuck Tingle before? - submitted by Rei

    • How do I suggest a book for our Book Club?
      • Excuse you - it's a Literature Society - but you can just send me a private message and I'll see if the book is something we can swing!
    • Rei! I don't want spoilers while I read! How fix?
      • Me neither! Take a peek at the rules area on how that's being handled, you beautiful darling!
    • What if I don't like this genre?
      • Participation is entirely voluntary. You can skip a month - or try it out! See if you like it!
    • I'm hoping to see more questions come in so I can update more of these!

With this all in mind - I hope you're excited to join me in this wonderful time. This will be our prime book for September- and each month, I will make a new thread for the month and archive the last.
If you have any questions - please, post them here! I'll do all I can to answer you, and I hope this becomes a great hub for us to chat about wonderful books!

Feel free to @me to catch my attention if you need to! :)
