neither here nor there.
Many of us have been quarantining at home for the past few months due to the current coronavirus pandemic. For our generation, this is unprecendented and has left a lot of us stress, confused, lost, or (perhaps less tragically) bored as fuck while we're waiting for the world to return to some shadow of normal.

So what have you all been up to during quarantine? Has anything positive come out of this for you? (Have you learned a new skill, written more, read more, cleaned more, whatever.)

For me, I learned how to make lotion bars. I read a book. I have completed four video games and am working on my fifth. I've been working on getting my writing back to an acceptable level (I had been going through a deep depression months before this pandemic even was a thing so you can imagine how staying home for two months has affected my will to write). I've crocheted stuff. I started learning the basics of Python coding.

I guess all that isn't too bad.

So tell me, what have you been up to? And hey, if you wanna just use this thread to vent, that's okay too. I think we all need a little of that right now.

Man, quarantine has been a little weird for me (mainly because I'm blessed/cursed to still be working). As much as I love to vent about how work is a PoS right now, I'd rather focus on other things I've been doing:

1. Caught up on Campaign 2 of Critical Role. Now they've left me hanging on episode 99 with no set date of when they'll be back on air. But all the rando things that the cast does while they're waiting out the quarantine makes me love them even more. Matt Mercer is a precious treasure that must be protected. Just sayin'.

2. I've made doodles. I haven't done some realy purposeful drawing in some time. It's a mix between I get bad hand cramps and I get frustrated that I can't get the images I have in my head out on paper/on a drawing pad. I've been trying though, and have created concept art for a tiefling character I'd like to use in rps.

3. I have been playing Pokemanz Shield. Finally got a Switch! And the only game I have is Pokemon: Shield lol. My inner child has reappeared and I get excited everytime I find a pokemon that I love. Fuck yeah, oddish.

4. FFVII was played through by the fiancé and I. I love it. All the feels. I just. HRRG.

5. Candi and I have found the weeb mmo SoulWorker. It's anime. It's Korean. It's a Korean anime mmo. It's rather strightforward in terms of gameplay, but it is still pretty fun. Be warned though, all the characters look like they came straight out of a kawaii waifu weeb trash anime.

6. I've been catching up on Podcasts. I've been neglecting my podcasts lately for other things like Netflix binging, but I've recently been trying to get back into my podcasts. I've caught up on Lore by Aaron Mahnke, and Noble Blood (produced by Aaron Mahnke). I've been catching up on Myths & Legends podcast and have a list more of ones that I need to listen in to including catching up on Spirits podcast, Queens of Adventure, The Magnus Archives, Shedunnit, Cults, Mythology, and Drunk Mythology.

7. NETFLIX AND CHILL. I binge series. A lot. So needless to say, I've binged through a few series. The newsest season of The Last Kingdom was amazing. Sirius the Jaeger was rather good. Finished Castlevania. Started Voltron (which is actually pretty damn good), started and have been binging Merlin, Hell on Wheels, The Princess of Weiyoung, Damnation. There's a few more that I won't bother to mention because I lost interest pretty quickly. And then there's Amazon Prime, where I've only found a small selection that I was interested in watching through. Britannia being one of them, and surprisingly good is The Beforiegners!

So uh... yeah. I'm keeping myself preoccupied when I'm not raging about how ridiculous food service work is right now. More than usual lol.

Well the quarantine overall has been a mixed feeling I think for me, well with experiences not really being good for me in terms of life and the internet (those don't surprise me). But the only good things I think that came from this are that my sister is back home from college and I've begun to write more for myself.

Considering no one is really biting to my interests, ideas etc. I have been more of writing for myself and keeping whatever I write away knowing whatever new interest I got isn't going to net me the results I want because of my bad luck and feeling excluded but I have been filling my third poem book in which I give to someone I care about in my life.

There's been movies I have been watching (old ones) anyways to pass the time and to try and keep the suspected depression I may or may not have, I have been watching streams of games/content creators I like. There's that and some anime I have checked out which one I have liked unexpectedly (seven deadly sins) but I think there is nothing too special that I have done.

Drawing. lots and lots of drawing. And playing with babies. Oh and we remodeled our house. :D It's liveable! We redid the floors in the living room, kitchen, hallways, bedrooms, like ripped em up ourselves. Put wood flooring in the living room and hallways, carpet in the bedrooms etc. We also repainted and retextured the entry way, kitchen, and livng room. We're done now and I'm still finding dust everywhereeeee! Though we're finally decorating

I got a new job that is remote even outside of this pandemic - so I've been spending lots of time preparing for that. I've gotten my wisdom teeth taken out, a bunch of work done on my house (a la Frosty), and I've been trying to keep up with everyone.

Also Animal Crossing. Love that game.

It's been an adventure! :D

Uhh... I've been mostly trying to stay sane.

I managed to get graduated before the shitshow started, which was awesome of course, and only tricky part was getting a written piece of paper saying "yes, Merra did indeed finish her studies" so I could start getting unemployment money. It's a bit sad that I never got to celebrate it with other people, but then again, I've already had two graduation parties before. Pretty sure all relatives and friends are pretty much like "...yeah, grats again I guess".

Also applied to another school, my next aim is bachelor of social services, and already past the first entrance exam. Next time will be ~24th of this month, the results from this first part arrive in couple of weeks.

Done art. Like... lots of it. And gotten some RP done too, and I'm feeling pretty comfortable with my writing as for now. Sometimes you just fall into that slump of not doing any RP and then it shows in your writing - to the writer themselves, perhaps not to the others. I've always been pretty flakey, but somehow Umbra has really managed to keep me in. I guess I've never before felt so close with the community, if you don't count WoW guilds.

It's funny how when all this started, I went through all of our kitchen cabinets and cleaned them up, went through my whole wardrobe, and got lots of gardening done. Now? I take care of the plants I planted, but nothing new, really. And that cleaning up bullshit has stopped too, funnily enough.

Today I read the news and the town I live in has last had a case of covid two weeks ago, and yesterday there were no cases in whole of Finland. Things are calming down, but it's definitely going to be a 'new normal' rather than going back to an old one. I hope that things will calm down to all the people here living in other parts of the world. Stay safe and healthy, and keep being creative. ♥♥

Ok so... About a week ago I had an idea.. I was going to find an old, damaged guitar and paint it to put it up in the middle of a record wall I'm doing in my office. So, I started contacting shop after shop and no hits until BAM I got a call back from my favorite guitar store. The guy had an old guitar he had fixed up because it was pretty damaged and he didn't know if it could still be playable. I went to pick it up and the guy explained how this pregnant woman brought it in to be fixed and then moved to East Texas and didn't come back. I explained what I needed it for and he ended up giving it to me for free. I got it home, sanded off the sealant (Can't think of name) and then wiped it down and started painting. It was a Luna guitar with a wood pattern so I didn't paint over that. I put moon phases around the sound hole, a medalion on the body with a crescent moon next to it and then put stars and another set of moon phases on the sides of the body and on the fingerboard between every other fret I painted a crescent moon.

When the restrictions and quarantine was at a height, my wife and I stayed in our apartmnent....we don't work in fast food places where you could still keep your job by working in drive throughs. We spent a lot of time having sex....kinda makes me wonder if the world is gonna experience a baby boom after all this is over!
We go to the beach a lot, carefully searching for out of the way spots where fewer people are around, even though we bring our face masks....we stock up on food and water so we never go to restraurants. My wife took an on line set of cooking classes

Ha! I hate how last time I replied to this thread, things had gone way better and now the cases have been increasing rapidly here in Finland and even in the town I live in. Schools and daycares have been closing their doors, one by one, library extended their closing yet again and I heard of a first friend in town getting covid. Shit sucks.

But at least I now have way more to do with the studies starting, and thankfully even though the libraries are closed, you can still go get books if you place an order and they bring them to these few small shelves at the door for you to pick them up. I've also been getting into Planet Zoo, my new drug and addiction, can't recommend it enough to those who love simulation games! There's so much to do even in the basic version, and if you want more animals and stuff to build with, there's several DLCs. However, been a bit lazy on the art department... It's tough, my head needs to be in the right place for it, and lately my head's been all over the place.

Oh man... I learned some Japanese symbols, that's about it in the learning department. As for what I did, I found vtubers, played a crap ton of video games, raged over Cyberpunk/Last of us 2, tried to draw and learned I am not good at it... that's about all I can think of at the moment XD

(No hate intended towards anybody that enjoyed those two games)

Still enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 for what it's worth... just needed more. And to not be buggy, but y'know. Still perfectly rage-able, as far as I'm concerned.

@Riku Did you end up playing any new (or at least new to you) games that you really enjoyed?

I recently lost my job. I've been staying in my room, playing video games and working on my YouTube channel

Sorry to hear about your job, but I hope you've been having a good time with games! Do you do Let's Plays on your YouTube channel or is it for other things?

Eventually I will be doing let's play videos but for now I just review movies that I've watched. I do plan on having more content up as I try to figure out my schedule

That's awesome! I've always distantly imagined doing videos and the like, seems like fun (time consuming, but fun nonetheless). Don't know if I could ever get over my fear of being on camera though. Maybe be one of those nifty mysterious faceless YouTubers instead.
