I'm back on my Pokemon bullshit.

I understand my idea of "gijinka" pokemon is a little different than what other people consider gijinka. The gist of it is pokemon who have human forms, either dressed in cosplay-like attire for their species or in interchangeable outfits, that can switch between that and their monster form. General rule is that only tamed or caught pokemon can achieve this, while wild pokemon are locked to their original/monster form - essentially that it takes a bond of some sort with a human to give them the ability to change shape. I figure this gives plenty of freedom with pokemon interactions + keeps battles cool looking. Any other aspect (moves, non-human traits like tails, etc.) can be decided on individually. Visual examples: [x]

Some specific things to note:

  • Male/Genderless (male-leaning) Pokemon x Male/Female Trainer is what we're going for here, based on my partner's preference.
  • All pokemon have human-level sentience and are treated as intelligent beings, especially in their gijinka forms. All main characters will be 21+, preferably 25+.
  • OC x OC is what I have in mind, but feel free to suggest canon characters - the worst I can say is no!
  • Please have a decent grasp on the franchise and its lore! If someone only knows the first gen or two, my stuff might regularly go way over their head.
  • No fakemon, please. There's over 1000 pokemon - pick one.
  • Related, (almost) any pokemon is fine! Shiny, legendary, whatever. Very popular pokemon like lucario, eevee/eeveelutions, charizard, pikachu, etc...pretty much any pokemon that's plastered everywhere will need some convincing just because I'm honestly sick of seeing them. Sorry! The more underrated pokemon get priority.
  • The setting can be in any region! I favor Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn myself, but I love them all. A custom region might be a hard sell since I like having pre-made destinations to bounce off of.
  • Game Freak might not want their pokemon to be massive, but I sure do! They're monsters. Let's treat them as such with realistic sizing.

Some things about me:

  • My partner needs to be 21+. I'm thirty, so the older a writing partner is the more comfortable I feel.
  • I greatly enjoy angst/darker themes such as drug use, cursing, and some level of violence/gore. If someone is exceptionally squeamish, then I may not be the best person to write with. That said, please let me know of any concerns and I will adjust!
  • As above, this could also include psychological torture, possible self-harm, and emotional trauma. Not a necessity, but it's all on the table. Anything that turns the story into something gritty to mix with hurt/comfort fluff is what I crave!
  • Romance not required! Smut is entirely optional and so is romance! Family bonds are just as good.
  • In terms of smut, I'm not a pure smut type of person. We're looking at a 60/40 - 80/20 plot-to-smut ratio depending on chemistry. Gimme characters who can have fun with each other + have realistic flaws and emotions.
  • Also related to smut, I'm pretty flexible when it comes to tame and extreme kinks. I have some hard no's, but I'm down to hear any kink, judgement free.
  • My post length varies, though I average about 2-4 paragraphs. Inspiration can hit me hard, so my posts might be randomly long if the scene's good. Quality over quantity and all that.
  • I am not a 'one post a day' person. It's time I accept that I just can't pump out posts like I used to. Some days I just don't feel like writing. A post a week is the minimum I strive for. I won't vibe well with someone who insists on daily communication, whether OOC or IC, but I will do my best to be chatty and transparent.
  • I fully expect proper grammar. Perfection is impossible, of course! But I want to write with someone who loves writing and shows it with decent effort.
  • I'm pretty ghost-friendly. Life happens, things don't last forever. Pop back in whenever you feel like and we'll get something going again!
  • Doubling isn't my thing. If a partner isn't into playing a certain character for their own interest, then we just aren't compatible.
  • PM is my top preference, but I'm down for anything my partner prefers.
  • Writing samples available! I might ask for one in return!

And finally to the good stuff - Plots/Ideas:

Trainers often choose pokemon that complement their existence - their personalities, their hobbies, even their appearance. Sharing common ground is an important aspect to training pokemon, especially during long journeys with only each other for companionship. Some trainers, however, manage to befriend their exact opposite. Some trainers may find that a pokemon like that can fill a certain void within themselves, a lack of something they can't fix alone...And maybe the pokemon finds the same.

MC is a grump of a person, perpetually tired of everyone's shit, and would much rather dig a hole to bury themselves in if given a chance. Or sleep all day - that'd work too. Their one and only companion, on the other hand, is a softie who wears his heart on his sleeve. YC never fails to make his trainer smile. Though MC might roll their eyes and try to shoo YC away at times, there's an obvious sense of care between the two. If MC does anything at all, it's almost always out of making YC happy or proud in some way.

(Could take this relationship a step further with the 'opposites' aspect continuing in their romance. No one expects the cuddly ray of sunshine to be a no-nonsense dom in the bedroom, nor his grumpy trainer to be the sort to roll over for the smallest amount of praise.)

Inspired by the Colosseum and XD games, but not taking place within them.

Base premise for this is that MC is suddenly (and unpreparedly) tasked with the rehabilitation of YC, a 'shadow' pokemon that is one of many turned into mindless, violent abominations. This recovery could be through a good ol' journey across the region, or something a little smaller in scale. Perhaps YC is a natural ray of sunshine who tries to hold off their monstrous side as well as they can, or YC is a grumpy asshole. Either way, we're looking at plenty of potential for enemies to lovers, 'jerk with a heart of gold', hurt/comfort, found family, and pure angst.

This can be very wholesome and soft, or extremely dark - or somewhere in-between!

"Therapy" pokemon have to be a thing, right? Pokemon help out everywhere, from construction sites to hospitals, so the role of a pokemon meant to look after someone isn't much of a stretch. A pokemon in this scenario could be suddenly in charge of looking after his trainer after an accident, or is assigned to a person who needs that extra companionship. Either way, there's a very sudden shift in the traditional power dynamic - and it could lead to some...surprising behaviors.

YC was MC's first pokemon - or was, in general, a companion when MC was very small. They were inseparable...Until YC was stolen. Either by an evil group or an individual that saw their opportunity and took it. MC was inconsolable, yet ultimately grew up to believe that YC just didn't exist. The memories of him are deeply faded at best, and it's easier to assume the companionship was all a figment of MC's very young mind.

Somehow, YC finds his way back to MC, forcing MC to understand that a very important part of their childhood had indeed been lost, and YC to realize that he's missed out on so much of MC's life. Maybe MC is a top trainer now, maybe they've fallen on hard times. How the relationship unfolds after that is entirely in the air.

Please feel free to throw any other ideas at me! Thanks for reading! c:
