Hello, you brilliant individuals! As you all may have already figured out, we like to keep things easy breezy here on Umbra. Part of maintaining that easy breeziness is letting you all know what's going on with the site and ensuring everyone is prepared for any potential s i t u a t i o n s.

So what's going on, Nev?! you ask. I'll keep it short and sweet:

On Friday, March 6th, beginning 1:01AM CST, our host will begin performing an infrastructure upgrade and transfer Umbra to a new server with fancy shmancy hardware.

So what does this mean for you? Well, to steal words directly from our host's email:

"This is a standard and seamless preocedure that will be performed late at night when server traffic is minimal. We [Umbra's host] do not expect any downtime for your account, however brief outages of a few minutes are possible while migrating [Umbra] to the new server."

We wanted to keep you all informed and let you know that if you are online during this time and the site goes down, do not worry. While we hope there are no hiccups during the transfer, we must always expect some inconveniences.

A day or so prior, Umbra staff highly recommends you back up any roleplay posts or other work you write until the server migration is complete. Umbra Roleplaying is backed up every single day to ensure your roleplays remain safe, but if you don't want to take the risk of losing a post, PLEASE save your work on your hard drive, in your email or in Google docs just in case.

Feel free to post below any questions you may have about the transfer. We always want to keep you all up-to-date.

    Have a great week!

    Nev
