Yeah, I can't say they are doing themselves any favors recently. Making it really easy for Inside Gaming to make jokes and videos about them. XD

Well one game I can say is a favorite of mine is Final Fantasy X. The original did everything so well, the characters, their personality and especially the music! God the music was amazing in that game, I even liked the sequel after that.
A game that is up there to this level is Skyrim or TES 5. I love my battlemage build on there. I would recommend FFX to those who haven't tried it.

Destiny 2 just released a title update so I've been dabbling a bit in that, though it would be fair to say I'm not as into it as I have been. There's nothing I really want to chase this season in terms of gear... so instead I've been playing Borderlands 3 and farming for some god-rolled loot. That's just on Xbox.

On PS4 I've just finished the Tomb Raider trilogy and loved them, though I did get a bit burnt out. I started through Gravity Rush 2 but it hasn't held me, and I have a whole lineup of other games I want to play, like Control, FF7R, and Just Cause 4.

On PC I'm pretty addicted to both Realms of Magic and Vigil: The Longest Night. One is an action/adventure RPG with crafting elements, like a more open world Terraria, and the other is a Metroidvania with Souls-inspired settings and storyline. If I can't focus on story or building I go to Islanders, and I've started a new run in No Man's Sky.

I like gaming.

What's your favorite game?

I see we are playing hard ball, eh? Well that is a tough one to answer. Favorite game in the moment? Favorite game ever? Favorite game for a sunday brunch (for the record you can never go wrong with checkers)? Well you'll get no clear answers from me. Because if it is a statement of all time favorite it is constant toss up of Final Fantasy III / VI & Chrono Trigger. Two of the best 2D Sprite Based JRPG's to ever be created.
FF VI just had the cast and the story of politics and ethical struggles of leadership. Hell (spoiler coming up), the big bad Kefka? He ultimately wins. He destroys the world. Sows chaos. Achieves utter godhood all to prove a point that everything you've endured to get to him and stop him is meaningless. Even as the epilogue plays there is no guarantee that the world our heroes are left in will ever recover. But they are together, and if you did it right much like Mass Effect 2's suicide mission, you get the pleasure of seeing them survive.
Meanwhile Chrono Trigger is about unexpected weight of responsibility, and the battle between uncertainty and conviction. A pair of friends get sucked through time to save a princess who ran away, because she too just wanted to be unburdened by the uncertainty of the future. Together they are bounced around time flowing from happenstance to happenstance. Each time taking on a charge. A new revelation brings a new responsibility. They are the heroes of time and the only ones to know of and find out how to end the threat of the ancient time devourer Lavos. In the end a Genius finds inspiration, A Robot finds their humanity, a Knight learns to give up a grudge, a Savage brings forth the age of progress, a Mage finally moves on from grief, and a Silent Child goes on a great adventure with his friends. What is not to love?
Both games have phenomenal soundtracks that still hold up today. And if I am to be honest? When I choose one I am always quick to change my mind to the other. Maybe it is because they are the two most influential games of my early child hood that helped me form a strong bond with my older brothers. Or maybe it is because the older I get every play through reveals more nuance and depth. They are simple games to be true. But I love them and that is why they are my favorites.

Any favorie video game series? Or a specific one?

Final Fantasy is just a given. Even the worst of them I enjoyed. There is no amount of grief that I recieve for preferring FF 8 over 9.
But the Fallout Franchise, Mass Effect, and almost anything to do with Star Wars? Consider me down.

What makes it your fav?

Final Fantasy is a series that has managed to sequalize and drag itself to death on franchising characters to death. FF 7 is a bit of an exception. But far and few between are there genuine sequels between entries. What I like is that every new Main Series entry to Final Fantasy brings a new story and a new world. All playing on the core tropes of Final Fantasy being Crystals, Magic, Summons, and Warriors of Light who are called upon to fight back the coming darkness. It is simple, yet in that simplicity they have been able to create such rich characters and moving stories.
To think this franchise started off as the developers interpretation of a DnD game they ran. So just to prove my dedication to tabletop it serves as a root inspiration for the beginning of one of my favorite game series.
What would you recomend others to play?

I feel if I am suggesting entries in Final Fantasy? Unless you are cool with the retro of previous entries, I believe FF X and FF VII Remake are the most accessible and will give you a true understanding what to expect from the series. They give you the weird and exciting action right out the gate. Earlier entries held back their sci-fi and metaphysical shenigans behind the image of a basic Fantasy RPG, but trust me these are not those kinds of games,
Outside the franchise I doe suggest to know what it is like to play a classic Final Fantasy without going back in time play the Bravely Default games. Nintendo exclusives but they give so much depth and a fresh breath to a classic story and turn based battle system.
Now I also will always suggest Witcher 2 & 3 - fantastic games, hard to beat them on terms of quality and richness of mechanics.
If less time is available and you just want to enjoy yourself? Hades is such a great Roguelite action rpg. It fixes my issues I have with these kinds of game, I don't like having complete wipes of skills, equipment, and abilities when I die. I like to build improvements.
I could probably go on and on about the games I love. But this is just a glimpse. Ask me questions and I promise it will be difficult to shut me up.

Silent Hill. 1-4. Hands down!

Why? Well, i was very little when i accidentally watched Jacob's Ladder and my Uncle brought the demo and a system from Japan, when he came to vist. It also resonates with me on a deep level...

The Elder Scrolls. I just love them all! However, i recommend Oblivion, especially The Shivering Isles expansion!

I haven't played video games in any serious capacity since around 2008 when I noticed I was wasting too much time with it, but one game that I keep going back to even now is Diablo II. It's just plain fun, going through randomly-generated dungeons and searching for better and better items. I liked this game so much, in fact, that I ran a group RP several years ago on House Eros based on this game, which lasted quite a long while (there are so many opportunities for smut when you start in a camp full of warrior women who have to go out and fight demons every day >_>).

There's an old Fire Emblem title for the Super Nintendo, from 1998 I think, that I love just for its lore. It's called Seisen no Keifu (Genealogy of the Holy War), and it is actually the setting for three RPs I'm doing on this site right now. It was only released in Japan (I played an English translation on a SNES emulator on my PC many years ago), which is a shame, because I consider it to be the best of the Fire Emblem series (although I haven't played any of the more recent ones like 3 houses, so I can't really compare them).

I also have a fondness for this old Flash game that I can't play anymore (because Adobe killed Flash), which was called Creeper World. They had an algorithm that generated a new random map every day, so I could play it indefinitely. I used to play it as a meditation exercise while I had a podcast or something playing in another tab, so the verbal half of my brain is listening to people discussing big ideas while the spatial part of my brain is clicking on shit by instinct. The developer company put out a bunch of sequels that are pretty good (Arc Eternal and Particle Fleet, in particular), but only the demos are free, and I don't feel like paying actual money just to play games...

Nowadays I mainly just download porn VNs in Ren'Py, like Being A DIK. Those are great fun, and some of them have a surprising amount of creativity put into them (even though the other 99% are autistic trash).

Final Fantasy III / VI & Chrono Trigger

These two were excellent, and very often mentioned in the same sentence. I grew up with them and they shaped my expectations for what a JRPG was supposed to be (although my first experience with JRPGs might have been DragonQuest/Dragon Warrior 4). The 90s were a golden age for that genre. I think something was lost in the 2000s when consoles got more powerful and more of the development effort had to go into making beautiful graphics rather than storytelling. Or maybe it was just that development itself became so much more costly that it weeded out the risk-takers, just like what happened with movies as budgets started expanding massively in the 80s and 90s.

I have a number of favorites one of them I'm saddened that they never did decide to keep it going, it was my all time favorite slightly sppoky rpg series but it ended at ps2 after like the 4th game x.x the Koudelka Saga or for those that played it on ps2, Shadow Hearts series since they had 3 games on ps2. It was a good series for an rpg, wished they could get around to maybe doing a combo...I'd so play all 4 in a heart beat.....

Other wise I know sounding cliche here FF but not just any FFXIV right now has my total love, but if I had to choose 2 other series types one I would love to see possible a full remake of Breath of Fire 3 that....yeah I'd be probably lost for at least 2 years in just that game. It took that long for me to beat it when it first came out just due to sheer damned content it was massive and was just that damned good.

Favorite videos games is quite hard thing to really narrow down for me if I'm being completely honest here. Most video games I really came to love for one reason or another.

The originally Ace Attorney trilogy was a gem of a series that was definitely fun. It's not so much a game I can just come back to whenever unless I lost a bit of memory for it given it's slightly puzzled like. After all using evidence and finding contradictions in testimonies is much more fun when you figure it out for the first time on your own. Feels accomplishing.

One old series that I loved is coming back, that being Advance Wars by Intelligent Systems. Of course those who love the fire emblem series will already know about them. The turn based nature of advance wars is really nice and (while I'm fairly bad) it's still a lot of fun to play. Of course a new game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, being a new game since like early 2000s so that's gonna be awesome to play!

When it comes to the horror genre, I love me a good horror game and well Outlast is just a gem of one, not the second one as much as the first one though. It's crazy to be chased down by bigger beings while all you have is your wits, hiding spots and a camera. Not to mention you lose certain features if your going for achievements. To this day I still can't do an outlast play through without using a hiding spot or recharging my camera. Really good horror game for what it's worth.

Legend of Zelda is just so well known that I truly don't need to dwell to deep into it. For those living under a rock or wanna know why or which ones I like then I'll say it. The puzzles are always amazingly crafted and aren't always too hard to solve, unless it's the original game secrets and your doing it blind. Other than that though it also has beautiful stories and artwork to differ them apart. Most having a straight story to follow while Breathe of The Wild strays into an open world game and Spin offs like Triforce Heroes do their own thing.

The Binding of Isaac where do I begin? For starters it's a randomly generated dungeon crawler. Similar to Into the Gungeon along with similar aspects of the original Zelda. Each item has its own flare and look to it while the various floors and enemies look gory (sometimes) but still cartoonish. It's a wonderfully handcrafted game with several unlocks and secrets. While I personally completed a save file, you have three of them to fully max out and while it's kinda grindy to do so, the game is always throwing something new at you to make it feel fresh rather than get stale.

While I have several other games I'd love to mention, I'mma try not to unleash my complete inner gamer here. Though I'll end it with saying that there's so many wonderfully handcrafted videos games that need to be explored or even played at least once.

There's a browser game I've come to like, called Laqueus Escape. It's one of those point-and-click escape-the-room games, set in some kind of derelict industrial facility, and it's broken up into chapters released months apart, where each chapter is another section of the facility that you have to work your way through. I like this game because the puzzles are all very logical, in that all the information you need to solve them is available to you if you're paying attention, no tricks or gotchas. I find each chapter takes between 1 and 2 hours to play through, at least for me, with all the headscratching and jotting things down in notepad that I had to do.

You can find all the chapters on armorgames here: https://armorgames.com/search?q=laqueus
